It raced and won, it’s one of just two original lightweight Ford GT40s which has carbon fiber bodywork (now in use on every Formula 1 car). Also it is one of a GT40s which broke Ferrari’s dominance in Le Mans. It was the “camera car” which filmed the 200 mph actions in one of the best motorsport films in history. It is the most expensive American car that was ever sold at auction for a good reason. This car was also associated with one of the few people in the world with the “midas touch” – his name is Steve McQueen.
